Spot price versus shop price
This is the value of the gold itself at the world spot price. Gold bars sold in Indonesia (for example by Antam or at pawnshops) and jewellery cost more: the seller adds a premium for minting, distribution and margin, and jewellery adds the cost of workmanship. When you sell, the buyback price is lower than the selling price of the same day. Use the spot value to judge how large those margins are, not as a price you can buy or sell at.
The value for lower purities simply scales the gold content: a gram of 18 karat jewellery contains 0.75 grams of gold.

Why is the bank or shop price higher?
Retail gold includes the seller's premium and costs, and jewellery includes workmanship. The spot value is the gold content only.
How often is this updated?
We check the spot price several times a day; the rupiah conversion uses the latest ECB reference rate, published on working days.
Is there tax on gold?
Purchases and sales of gold can carry VAT or income tax depending on the product and the seller; ask the seller for the price including all taxes.
